Hit the road safely with your mobility scooter – thanks to a handy advice day at Southend Civic Centre.
Help and tips on all aspects of scooters will be given at the event, which takes place from 9.30am to 2.30pm on Tuesday 6th November in the Jubilee Room.
It will include advice on the best scooter to buy for your own particular needs and there will even be the chance to try out different scooters.
Also on offer at the advice day, which is being jointly hosted by Southend-on-Sea Borough Council and Mobility4u, will be tips on:
- scooter care and maintenance - how to get the best from your scooter and prolong its life
- road safety, highway code updates and personal awareness
- free eyesight tests
- training - how to ride your scooter for your own safety and that of other road users and
- security - bring your own scooter to take advantage of free scooter tagging
Executive Councillor for Public Protection, Waste and Transport, Tony Cox, said: "Mobility scooters provide an excellent way for people with mobility issues to maintain their independence.
"However, we want to offer the best help we can to make sure these vehicles are used as safely as possible. We hope as many people as possible will take advantage of this free opportunity."
