These comments will form part of the Borough's third Local Transport Plan (LTP3) now being developed by Southend-on-Sea Borough Council. This replaces the existing LTP2 that runs until March 2011.

Following Department for Transport (DfT) recommendations, the Council is currently gathering evidence and listing issues and options for all aspects of future transport in Southend. Responses submitted during this initial stage will contribute to the draft strategy which will be unveiled in the Autumn with further opportunities for consultation and comment.

Councillor Mark Flewitt, the Council's Executive Councillor for Planning and Transport said: "It is important that the Borough has a robust transport strategy for the future.

"Given the current fragile economic situation, the transport strategy will be essential in making the case for local investment and regeneration within the Borough."

The Evidence Base document along with the issues and options summary can be viewed or downloaded from the Council's website, www.southend.gov.uk

They can also be viewed at libraries in the borough and Southend Civic Centre, Victoria Avenue , Southend. The consultation closes at 5pm on Friday 30th July.
