Cycle Southend gets more people back in the saddle

Back in the Saddle rides prove great success.

As part of Cycle Southend’s continued success in getting more people riding, the team has been running hugely popular ‘Back in the Saddle’ events.

These weekly rides to encourage more people to return to cycling - or to take it up for the first time - took place on and off road and prompted a great deal of interest

The most recent ride, named the 'King of the Castle ride' to Hadleigh Castle, attracted more than 40 people of varying ages and abilities who had a fun-filled day of action and adventure.

This also gave some more experienced participants the chance to practice for the forthcoming London to Southend bike ride on Sunday 18th July

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Transport and Planning, Councillor Mark Flewitt, said: "These activities arranged by Cycle Southend are a great way to motivate people to get out and get cycling.

"They are just some of the many opportunities offered by Cycle Southend to boost cycling for the whole community. I hope as many people as possible will explore the cycling events, activities and assistance available."
