Community Library Services
The services we offer
Southend Central Library provides a wide range of services for disabled customers, including:
- Large Print books
- Spoken Word cassettes and CDs
- Big Print newspaper
- Audio-described and sub-titled videos and DVDs
- Talking newspapers and magazines
- Induction loops
- Brailling service
- TV Magnifier
- Textphone and Typetalk services
- RNIB Talking Book service
- Access to Internet, e-mail and computers
- Digital Listening Post
At the Central Library, there are designated parking spaces at the rear of the building and a manual wheelchair for use within the library.
A disabled toilet facility is also available on the ground floor, with a lift to all parts of the library. Staff will be happy to help if you need further advice.
If you are housebound or a carer and unable to visit your local library, we offer a Home Library Service. Customers living in residential homes can also enjoy regular visits from our mobile library service.
