What we want to achieve and why?
Aiming for success for all, Success For All's vision for children and young people includes facilitating their participation in decision-making that affects their lives. This includes ensuring
Ø Children and young people have an independent voice
Ø Children, young people and parents are active participants in service planning and review and routinely inform service improvement
Ø Services are sensitive to diverse needs
The Partnership wants to ensure that every service can demonstrate policy change or service improvement as a result of feedback from children, young people and families.
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, ratified by the UK Government in 1991outlines the right of children and young people to be involved in the decisions which affect them; as individuals, and in the planning, delivery and evaluation of services that they access. There are also various pieces of legislation relating to specific services for children or organisations and their obligation to ensure the participation of children and young people in their services. But as well as this, the Success For All believe that participation bring benefits for both children & young people themselves - skill development, aspiration raising and confidence building - and for services - children and young people bringing fresh perspectives and new ideas about services and allow services to ensure they are meeting actual need rather than assumed need.
