Pre-schools & Playgroups
All pre-schools and playgroups that are open for more than 2 hours must be registered by Ofsted and work to the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. Ofsted Inspectors regularly make unannounced visits and their reports can be viewed at the Ofsted website.
Offering morning or afternoon sessional care pre-schools and playgroups take children from 2½ - 5 years. They are open term-time only.

Nursery Classes attached to Schools
Some schools have nursery units attached to them that act like pre-schools offering sessional care, either morning or afternoon, during term time only. They take children from 3 years-old. School nursery classes are subject to the same regulations as the school to which they are attached. Nursery classes can be found in both state and independent schools. Please notes that if your child attends a Nursery Class attached to a school this does not guarantee them a place within the school and you will need to go through the schools standard application process.
