What is the Enterprise Adviser Network?

The Enterprise Adviser Network is a national project that has been tailored locally to meet the needs of Southend’s young people, businesses and schools. It has been set up to inspire and prepare young people for the world of work.

How it works

Our network of Enterprise Advisers is made of volunteers from businesses and other employers, both large and small. They work directly with the leadership of schools and colleges to develop effective careers programmes. Schools, colleges and Enterprise Advisers are supported by a full time Enterprise Coordinator.

The benefits for businesses and employers

Getting involved offers you:

  • The chance to support the development of your future workforce
  • An opportunity to influence and improve the careers and enterprise skills of young people
  • Support to take your outreach programmes to more schools and colleges
  • Access to an entry-level talent pool and attract young people to fill your apprenticeships and vacancies
  • Great opportunities to develop your own employees
  • The opportunity to become part of a local network

The Careers and Enterprise Company

The Careers and Enterprise Company(CEC) is working with our partners to reshape the careers and enterprise landscape to help inspire and prepare young people for the world of work.

The 3 key focuses of the CEC are:

  1. Building local networks - connecting schools and college to the world of work in meaningful ways
  2. Backing proven ideas - funding activities in areas where support is needed most
  3. Finding out what works - Drawing together what works and focusing on geographical areas of need

The Enterprise Adviser Network is funded by the CEC and match funded by Southend Borough Council.
