Funerals and Social Distancing
We recognise this is an extremely difficult time for families, and no more so than if we lose a loved one.
Funerals will still be taking place, and our dedicated team will do everything they can to make sure you are able to pay your respects to loved ones with the dignity and compassion that they and you deserve.
We need to make sure funerals happen in a safe way, without the risk of spreading Coronavirus, so we have put in place these measures to keep people safe as they pay their respects.
Everyone attending or working at the cemetery or crematorium must continue to adhere to social distancing. We must all remain two metres apart from each other where possible.
Face coverings must be worn by law in indoor places of worship, crematoria and burial ground chapels unless exempt for health, disability or other reasons.
Face coverings should also be worn in other enclosed public spaces (e.g. Memorial Hall) where social distancing may be difficult and where you come into contact with people you do not normally meet.
Seating has been placed in accordance with social distancing measures and we ask everyone attending to not move the chairs around. Where there are benches, we ask that you sit two metres apart. Both Chapel’s are currently running with a reduced capacity, with a maximum of 30 people in the larger West Chapel and 12 people in the smaller South Chapel. The Church in the Cemetery remains closed and memorial services are being held in the Chapels at the Crematorium. The maximum number of mourners we are allowing in the Cemetery for a graveside funeral is 30. Ashes Interments are now restricted to maximum of 15. This is in accordance with the Institute Crematorium & Cemetery Management and Government guidelines.
The Flower Hall is now open to the public, visitors are reminded to adhere to the Governments guidelines with social distancing when using the facility.
The public are welcome to the Cemetery until 5pm but please be aware the entrance gates are closed at 4:30pm and can leave through the main exit.
If you have any questions, please do ask our staff members. We are dedicated to helping family members through this difficult time whilst making it as safe as possible.
