The Thames Estuary is the life-blood of Southend.
This exhibition explores the wildlife that lives in and the people who interact with the estuary, and the modern threats to this fragile ecosystem.
Wild Estuary explores the changing nature of the Thames Estuary and the different types of animals, insects and plants that live in this waterway. This is one most significant rivers in the world and the impact of pollution on this waterway is affecting the wildlife that thrives in this environment. With tonnes of pollutants and plastics moving from towns and cities into the sea every year, it is our responsibility to change the way in which we engage with and utilise this environment, respecting the incredible wildlife we are surrounded by. With lots of exciting initiatives to reduce the amount of pollutants that find their way in to rivers and oceans, there are many ways you can get involved.
