This exhibition explores what it means to be an Essex Girl.

It confronts the negative stereotypes and challenges the system in which these stereotypes have perpetuated. Working with the Essex Girls Liberation Front, this exhibition will showcase women from Essex who have experienced this stereotyping and have chosen to push back.

This exhibition does not aim to persuade those both inside and outside of the county that ‘we aren’t all like that’, it aims to provide all women whatever they look like, do, sound like or believe in, equal respect by reinforcing that it doesn’t matter where they come from, they have unmeasurable value.  We want you to take part in the ongoing and often challenging debate about how we can collectively combat these negative stereotypes.
