Finding Out You Are Pregnant
When you find out you are pregnant you will need to contact the midwifery team to start your antenatal care with the midwives.
You can do this either by filling out the Maternity Direct form or by calling the booking line on 01702 385393.
We advise you to take 400 micrograms of folic acid once a day during the first 12 weeks of your pregnancy and 10 micrograms of Vitamin D once a day throughout your pregnancy.
You should avoid drinking alcohol and if you are a smoker, we advise you to stop. Advice on how to stop smoking can be found in our stop smoking pages.
If you are taking any medication, please seek advice from your GP.
If you are still in education, contact Heidi Overaa teenage support worker on 07881782457 or email HeidiOveraa@southend.gov.uk for further advice and support.
