Household Support Grant

On 26 May 2022, the Chancellor announced, that the Household Support Fund (HSF3) would be extended from 01 October 2022 to 31 March 2023.

The Council has set up a number of avenues for granting assistance under this fund as set our below.

For some of these avenues there is no action to be taken, if you are identified as eligible for assistance you will be contacted.

Ways that assistance may be given

  • Free School Meals - The Council will be working directly with schools to issue free school meals vouchers for October half term, December holiday and February half term. This award is in addition to the support via the Holiday Activity Fund (HAF) service, which is run during the December school holidays and provides an activity for your child to attend and a meal.   • Southend Emergency Fund has grants of up to £5,000 to give out to organisations working with vulnerable people and vulnerable families. For more information and an application form, visit the Southend Emergency Fund website
  • Citizens Advice (CA) has received funds they can use to assist people with food and fuel costs. The CA will identify vulnerable people that may fit the remit of the Household Support Fund as they access the CA services. The CA will work with you to maximise your income and assist with any debt you may have. If you would like assistance from the CA please call on 01702 969696 to arrange an appointment
  • Essential Living Fund - Additional funding has been given to the Essential Living Fund scheme, the local welfare provision grant scheme already in operation for Southend residents.
