Summer Reading Challenge
The Reading Agency and Southend Libraries present Space Chase: Summer Reading Challenge 2019
The Reading Agency and Southend libraries are excited to introduce Space Chase, Summer Reading Challenge 2019; an out-of-this-world adventure inspired by the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing.
This summer children will help our super space family track down books nabbed by mischievous aliens! As they read library books, they will solve clues and collect special stickers to complete their mission folder. Can they find the aliens in time to save the day?
To take part in Space Chase, all children need to do is sign up at their nearest library where they will be given a colourful mission folder to keep a record of their Summer Reading Challenge journey. When they have read four books children will receive a special Space Chase window cling, and if they complete the challenge they will be awarded a medal and certificate.
Space Chase launches in all Southend libraries from Thursday 25 July 2019 and runs until Saturday 31 August 2019. There will be a chance to win a book voucher if children sign up early at their local library from Saturday 13 July until Wednesday 24 July. There will be 3 special interactive storytelling shows with Storyteller John Kirk on Monday 12 August 2019; Shoeburyness library at 10am, the Forum at 1pm and Westcliff library at 3pm.
Children aged 6 and over are invited to join in a fantastical adventure based on a trio of space themed stories. Tickets are £4 per child, (adults go free) and can be booked on the Libraries Eventbrite page.
