Nature Smart Cities across the 2 Seas
This is a European funded programme (Interreg 2 Seas) led by Southend Borough Council. It will help local authorities (LA’s) in England, France, Belgium and the Netherlands to deliver green space projects across their region.
We will explore how green space projects help local areas reduce the future impacts of climate change. Research has shown that increased amount of green space can:
- reduce the risk of flooding
- reduce temperatures
- give economic benefits
- and social benefits such as health, wellbeing and encouraging people to do more exercise.
The main result of the project will be a new business model. LA's can use this to justify the cost of delivering green space projects.
Further information about project can be found on the Nature Smart Cities across the 2 Seas website.
