Advocacy - Someone to Speak for You

Advocacy means having someone who will express your views and wishes, secure your rights and represent your interests.

If you are elderly or have physical or learning disabilities or mental health needs an advocate can assist you to make decisions about your health and social care support.

Advocacy is completely separate from social care services but your social worker can advise you further about where to get advocates.

See the SHIP website for further information on how to find an advocate.
