Lunchtime recital stars piano prodigy Curtis Elton

Southend-on-Sea will welcome the exceptionally talented 15 year old concert pianist, Curtis Elton, for the latest instalment of the popular free lunchtime recitals.
Curtis will present a 45-minute programme of music on Wednesday 12 December from 12:15pm until 1pm in the Council Chamber at Southend Civic Centre, Victoria Avenue, Southend-on-Sea. His programme will include music by Beethoven, Schubert and Chopin.
Curtis Elton LTCL ATCL will be giving this lunchtime piano recital in aid of the Paul Strickland Scanner Centre as part of his 2018/19 tour to raise awareness of prostate cancer. At the age of eight, Curtis, was thought to be one of the youngest in the country to pass a Grade 8 ABRSM music exam in piano. One year on, the prodigious young talent went one step further and became the youngest schoolboy in the world to gain an Associate of Trinity College London (ATCL) diploma equivalent to a first-year degree and two years later his Licentiate of Trinity College London (LTCL).
Curtis was nominated for a Nickelodeon Fruit Shoot skills award for the best rising star; invited to a Yamaha event promoting both a Disney film and GAP clothing; and invited to take part in the London Master Classes at the Royal College of Music with world-renowned conductor Benjamin Zander, who was blown away by his talent.
The Concert Series offers local residents and visitors the opportunity to attend high quality live music performances and offers musicians a local performance platform. The concert is free to attend, with a retiring collection.
This event is a continuation of the Council’s well-loved and very well-established recital series which features many excellent local performers over the year.
