UK Community Renewal Fund open for bids -UK Community Renewal Fund open for bids

Please note - This fund is now closed. A shortlist has been submitted to Government and we wait to hear the results.

Local organisations in Southend-on-Sea can apply for a share of £3m which has been made available by the UK Government to support recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic. The fund will support pilot projects which empower places to explore how best to tackle local challenges – such as:

  • building skills,
  • supporting local businesses,
  • supporting communities and places,
  • providing employment support through removing barriers that people face in accessing skills and local labour market opportunities.

90% of funding available through the UK Community Renewal Fund is revenue funding, and all of the funding must be spent by March 2022.

Bids can be submitted up to a maximum of £3m per authority, and the Government expects to support a range of projects, but applicants are encouraged to maximise impact and deliverability through larger projects (£500,000+) where possible.

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council will be responsible for inviting, assessing, prioritising, and submitting The UK Community Renewal Fund (CRF) bids to Government. Funding will help communities across the UK prepare for the introduction of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, which replaces EU Structural Funds.

It is essential that all applicants refer to the UK Community Renewal Fund Prospectus published by the Government.

Proposals can be submitted by councils, voluntary and community sector organisations and local education providers including universities. Bids cannot be submitted for projects that benefit a single entity for example a single business. There must be evidence of wider impact for multiple individuals, businesses, or other organisations.

Completed Project Proposal Forms must be submitted by email no later than 5pm on 28 May 2021.
