It’s never been easier to #GrabTheJab in Southend – get it this weekend

This weekend is predicted to be a bumper vaccination weekend for people not only across Essex, but also in Southend-on-Sea.

Pop-up clinics and walk-ins are making it easy for anyone eligible to get their first dose, second dose or booster, and those due a vaccine are being urgent to take the opportunity.

A pop-up vaccination clinic is running on Saturday 27th November from 11am to 3pm, at Balmoral Community Centre, SS0 7AU. Here you can get your first, second or booster dose of the Pfizer vaccine, if eligible; and children in reception to year 11 can have the flu vaccine (nasal spray).

The Civic Centre in Southend, SS2 6ER continues to offer booked appointments and walk-in vaccines from 9am to 7pm every day (seven days a week) for everyone aged 16+. Parking is free in the Civic Centre car park, for 30 minutes, for anyone having their vaccination. You can also pick up testing kits from reception if you would like them.

Those aged 12 to 15, clinics are running at the Civic Centre on Fridays 4pm – 7pm and Sundays 10am – 2pm.

Anyone concerned or anxious can take part in a needle therapy session, run by a professional who can support you to take up the vaccine and reduce any anxiety around needles. Please call 01268 739128 to book an appointment.

And next week the vaccination bus will once again be taking walk-ins at Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre (at the entrance). Residents across the borough can attend from 10am to 3pm on Monday 29 November to Saturday 4 December.

Councillor Anne Jones, cabinet member for communities and housing said; “This weekend there is more opportunity than ever for anyone eligible to get their vaccine. I would urge everyone to check the dates of their previous vaccinations, and if you’re due either a first, second or booster dose then please do either book an appointment or walk in at one of our vaccination clinics.

“With winter upon us it is vital we all keep ourselves and our friends and families safe, so please do “grab the jab” – why not have a look this weekend and make sure you’ve got your immunity up well before Christmas.”
