The Brook Meadows multi-use care facility has been successfully caring for and supporting the community since March 2022.
Guests were invited for the official ceremonial ribbon cutting on Wednesday 7 September to mark the occasion.
Brook Meadows boasts a variety of services, including long and short-term residential care, at-home care and the Viking day service helping those with learning difficulties. Operating from Brook Meadows House, Southend Care are experienced in working with those with dementia and other complex needs. The state-of-the-art facility has been built with accessibility, wellbeing and support as priorities, providing a more person-focused and holistic approach to care.
As Brook Meadows House reaches it’s six-month milestone, staff members, service users and dignitaries were invited to gather outside of the property to reflect on their successes and raise a toast to many more months to come.
Cllr Kay Mitchell, cabinet member for adult social care and health integration, provided a speech on the day, saying: “It has been a pleasure to watch this fantastic building slowly come to life over the last few years, and even better to see it in action, benefitting our local community. This facility is built upon the principles of caring for our community, and I am very excited to see how many more people will be helped going forward.”
Peter Little, chairman of Southend Care, added: “We at Southend Care are delighted to have Brook Meadows House officially opened, we have been trading for over five and a half years and the new facility has been planned and built during that time, we look forward to working with the Council to deliver first class care from this state of the art facility.”
Care staff held off hosting an official opening event due to Covid risks and to make sure the patients had all moved in comfortably.
