Preparing for emergencies

Getting ready for emergencies

It is a good idea to try and be ready in advance in case there is an emergency. A number of people can provide information and guidance to support you.

Power cuts

Do you need extra support during a power cut or know someone else (maybe a relative, neighbour or friend) that would need extra support during a power cut? You might be able to get free extra support from UK Power Networks.

If you need electricity for medical kit or have other special needs you can ask to be put on the UK Power Networks' Priority Services Register. This won't always mean they can get your power back more quickly but they can offer you help and support during a power cut.

For advice about what to do during a power cut visit the UK Power Networks website.

Floods

The Environment Agency provide advice about what to do before, during and after a flood.

Bad weather

The Met Office provides advice about what to do before, during and after a flood.

Shoeburyness Emergency Alert Service
