Household waste recycling centres (the tip)

What is accepted for recycling or disposal at the tip?

  • Mobile phones - do not forget to clear your data
  • Garden waste - reen waste suitable for composting
  • Cardboard - boxes (flattened), other cardboard packaging, cereal cartons etc.
  • Glass - bottles and jars
  • Batteries - ousehold and car
  • Paint - ousehold, e.g. emulsion, gloss, eggshell
  • Mineral oil - ngine oil
  • Cooking oil - vegetable-based cooking and oils
  • Paper - newspapers, junk mail etc.
  • Scrap metal - steel cans, aluminium cans, scrap metal items (no car parts)
  • Hardcore and rubble* - including DIY waste*
  • Ceramics - crockery, flower pots, household ceramics
  • Textiles and shoes - clean, dry textiles and shoes
  • Fluorescent tubes - all flurescent tubes
  • Low energy light bulbs - all low energy light bulbs
  • Large domestic appliances - ridges and freezers, washing machines
  • Small electric appliances - microwaves, toasters, irons, kettles
  • TVs and Monitors - all TVs and monitors
  • Wood - mixed wood
  • Reuse items - furniture, books, CDs, DVDs, bicycles, bric-a-brac, spectacles
  • Plasterboard - gypsum-based products: items containing asbestos will not be accepted
  • Printer cartridges - all printer cartridges
  • Mattresses - all matresses
  • Residual household waste - waste not suitable for reuse, recycling or composting, furniture potentially containing persistent organic pollutants (POPs)*
  • Hazardous household waste - including pesticides and herbicides, common household chemicals, antifreeze, screenwash
  • Vapes - all vapes

* Please note furniture potentially containing POPs need to be placed into a separate container. Please follow instructions from on-site staff.

Asbestos, gas cylinders and tyres cannot be accepted at either of our tips.

Please be aware there is a restriction of one car boot load. If you are generating large quantities of these materials you should consider alternative methods of disposal such as hiring a skip.
