Skip Licence (Operator)
Skip Operators Licence
To operate as a skip hire company within Southend-on-Sea you must be registered with our Skip Hire Registration Scheme and be granted a Skip Operator’s Licence.
And before each skip is placed on any public road your company must be granted a Skip Licence (sometimes known as a permit). You need one application per skip.
A Skip Operators licence is valid for 1 year. You must register/apply with our scheme each year.
When your Skip Operators Licence has been approved your company will be automatically registered. You will then be able to apply online for Skip Licences.
To register you must provide:
Proof of your public liability insurance – with cover of £5,000,000 or more
- A copy of a waste transfer note
- A waste carrier's licence certificate
- A goods vehicle operator's licence
For each licence there is a fee.
Please refer to the Council Fees & Charges document.
Fines and Penalties
You can be fined if you place an unlicensed skip on a public road, cause damage to any public property or fail to make sure the skip is safe.
