Coronavirus updates on Register Office, Appointments and Ceremonies
How you may be affected by the current coronavirus situation.
We are doing our best to manage the unprecedented number of calls and emails regarding ceremony bookings.
After the government announcement on 23 March 2020 further measures are being taken to reduce the spread of coronavirus and we are no longer able to attend ceremonies. We understand you may have concerns as to how this may affect your ceremony or registration appointments.
Until we are advised that restrictions are lifted we are not able to conduct any ceremonies in the Borough of Southend-on-Sea. We advise couples to contact their venues to see if they can obtain a new date for their ceremony.
The information below outlines our practices at this present time.
Unfortunately we are not able to produce any next day certificates. All certificates will be produced after 14 working days and will be posted to the applicant.
Southend Register Office is only open for death registrations
To ensure we meet social distancing guidelines and reduce the risk to both customers and registrars death registrations will completed remotely via telephone. To book a death registration appointment please call 01702 534350.
Do you have a new baby born at Southend Hospital or at home in the Southend area?
Southend-on-Sea Registration Services will be open to register your baby’s birth from Monday 22 June.
