Over the Christmas period, some online services may need to undergo maintenance resulting in them being unavailable. This work ensures we provide good and secure systems for our residents. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Southend Libraries are open.

The Forum will be open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday.

Leigh, Kent Elms, Westcliff and Shoeburyness Libraries will be open from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday.

Southchurch Library will be open from 10am to 4pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Measures are in place to ensure your safety and that of our teams:

  • we ask that face coverings continue to be worn whilst in the library and admission will be limited to aid social-distancing
  • our self-service machines are available for you to issue your selections;and sanitizing stations are conveniently situated within each library

Limited study space is available at The Forum on a first come first served basis.

Located on the 1st Floor, this is a quiet study area where the following must be observed:

  • only 1 person at each desk
  • no eating or drinking
  • mobile phones must be on silent

There is no limit to the time you may stay.

In addition to our usual services:

Lateral Flow tests will be available for asymptomatic people to collect from The Forum, Leigh, Southchurch, Kent Elms, Shoeburyness and Westcliff Libraries.

People’s Network

If you would like to use a library PC, the People's Network is available at all branches, through an advance booking system. Please book your 1-hour, self-service slot, by contacting the branch of your choice. For branch details please visit the directory.

Please note staff are not available to assist your use of the People’s Network.

Click and Collect

Our 'Click & Collect' service will continue for those customers who would like to receive a reading selection made by our knowledgeable and experienced teams. We will select up to 7 items from your specifications and arrange a convenient time for you to collect. For more information please visit: or call 01702 215011
