Adverse Weather, Gritting and Snow Clearance

Adverse Weather Conditions - Affected Services

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council has urged residents to be mindful of their personal safety during the adverse weather conditions. For the latest information on severe weather advisories please visit the Essex Weather Centre website.

When heavy snow is forecasted and temperatures are set to be at freezing major disruption is expected across the county. Residents are urged not to make car journeys unless they are absolutely necessary and to monitor local radio bulletins to keep up to date with any school closures.

School Closures

To keep informed of school closures residents should check with their child's school in the first instance. We will update our School Closures section of the website as and when we are informed of any closures. Local radio station bulletins and websites will also out out this information.
