Support Staff

An exciting time to be working in schools

This is an exciting time to be working in schools, and there are more teachers and support staff employed than ever before. Support staff in schools make a strong contribution to pupil learning and achievement. There are many career opportunities for people working in school support posts. Teaching Assistants provide support and assistance within some of the following areas:

  • Children with learning difficulties e.g. dyslexia, autism.
  • Children with behavioural difficulties e.g. children with a 'statement'
  • General classroom support e.g. preparing materials, organising resources
  • Specific subject support e.g. numeracy / literacy
