Newly Qualified Teachers
Support From the LA
Make a real difference to young people's lives by using your professional and personal skills in a Local Authority where they will be valued and developed. After a warm welcome to Southend-on-Sea, where you will be signposted to all the information that you will require for the rest of your NQT year, you will begin the process of reflection and review that will help guide your professional development. Southend offers a structured mentor support programme in schools during the first year, and the LA offers a wide range of courses and support in curriculum, pedagogical and pastoral areas. NQTs have a training session provided for them each month covering a wide range of issues, such as:
- Classroom Behaviour Management
- Special Educational Needs
- Assessment for Learning
- Teaching and organising ICT
- Literacy
- Numeracy
- Making better use of support staff and other adults in the classroom
- Science
