Household Canvass

What is the annual canvass?

The annual canvass takes place each year to help make sure that the electoral register is complete and accurate. It helps us to find any residents who are not yet registered to vote, so that they can be encouraged to register. It also updates us with the names of electors to be removed from the register, if they are no longer living at an address.  We are required by law to carry out the canvass. 

We may contact you by email, letter, text message, or phone. Please make sure you follow the instructions on your communication when responding.

If we are asking you to respond, please respond quickly to avoid:

  • further communications from us
  • a canvasser visit
