Community Right to Challenge

The Community Right to Challenge (CRTC) was introduced by the Government on 27 June 2012 as part of the Localism Act 2011.

The Act enables:

  • voluntary and community groups
  • charities
  • parish councils and 2 or more council employees to apply to run council services

If any of the above groups apply to run a council service we must consider the application and if accepted, conduct a procurement exercise for the service

The challenging organisation and all other interested parties can respond to the procurement exercise.
