What is Housing Assistance?
To help improve your living conditions we offer housing assistance, which are mainly repayable loans for you to work on your property. The work can be improvements such as, supplying hot water for the first time, or repairs such as a new roof or a new damp-proof course.
Do I qualify?
We aim to help properties in the poorest conditions and where the owner cannot fund the works themselves. To qualify, you will be financially means tested and you will need to qualify for at least one of the following:
- Income Support
- Guaranteed Pension Credit
- Income Based Jobseekers' Allowance
- Income-based Employment
- Support Allowance.
Please note: the Housing Assistance fund has a very limited budget but we try to keep the waiting list as short as possible.
To view the Housing Assistance Policy and a step by step guide of what happens once a Housing Assistance application is submitted please see our related downloads.
