Southend-on Sea City Council will be auditing headstones (memorial stones) in the cemetery.
The audit will take place over two weeks:
- week one starting 15 September 2025
- week two starting 6 October 2025
If a headstone is found to be potentially unsafe, trained staff will follow safety guidelines to decide what to do and take the required steps.
In the meantime, please do not touch any memorials or attempt to reposition or move them.
