SUEZ UK have been delivering waste collection, street cleansing and recycling services on behalf of Southend-on-Sea City Council since April 2025.

The fund is designed to support grassroots projects that improve the environment, boost community health, and promote wellbeing. With a total annual pot of £12,000, the programme will award grants ranging from £1,000 to £3,000 to projects that are locally driven, community-focused, and ready to deliver.

Community groups, not-for-profit organisations, and community businesses across Southend are encouraged to apply and bring forward innovative ideas that strengthen neighbourhoods and create lasting positive change.

Cllr Cheryl Nevin, Cabinet Member for Civic Pride, from Southend City Council said: "This Community Fund supports our commitment to creating a city we can all be proud of by backing local groups to take action in their neighbourhoods. From improving green spaces to supporting wellbeing, grants are available for projects that can help create cleaner, healthier places and encourage positive behaviours across our city."

Applications are now open via ActionFunder with an application deadline of 22 July 2026.

James Gatter, Contract General Manager for SUEZ said, "This new fund reflects SUEZ's ongoing commitment to supporting the communities it serves, not just through essential services, but also by investing in projects that help Southend thrive."
