The council is bringing back its behind-the-scenes activity with Southend in Action, a week-long celebration of the people, projects and services helping to improve lives and pride in the city.
Running from Monday 9 to Friday 13 November, the week-long focus builds on the success of 24hrs in Southend, which shone a light on frontline services earlier this year, expanding the initiative from a single day to a full week of stories from across the organisation.
Throughout the week, residents will be able to follow videos, features and visible action from teams across the Council, covering everything from major regeneration projects and community safety initiatives to business support, digital innovation, culture and heritage.
The campaign aims to give residents a better understanding of the people, projects and services helping to shape Southend, including much of the work that takes place behind the scenes.
Councillor Daniel Cowan, Leader of Southend-on-Sea City Council, said: "Every day, hundreds of people work behind the scenes to keep Southend moving, support residents and improve our communities. Southend in Action is a chance to shine a light on that work and share some of the stories residents might not normally get to see.
"From major regeneration projects and active travel improvements to keeping our beaches clean and helping to keep our streets safe, Southend in Action shows the real impact of the work happening to build a city than we can all be proud of."
Colin Ansell, Chief Executive of Southend-on-Sea City Council, said: "Our teams achieve incredible things every day, often out of sight and without recognition. At a time when councils across the country continue to face financial challenges, this week is an opportunity to celebrate the expertise, innovation and commitment of colleagues who keep delivering for residents.
"There are some fantastic stories to tell, and I hope Southend in Action gives residents, staff and visitors a better understanding of the work taking place across the organisation and the people behind it."
Among the stories set to feature during the week are active travel improvements, the transformation taking place at Better Queensway, the work of teams keeping Southend's beaches clean, community safety initiatives, support for local businesses, heritage projects, digital service improvements and the regeneration of Leigh Port.
Residents can follow Southend in Action across the Council's social media channels throughout the week using #SouthendInAction.
