About school catchment areas

Catchment areas from part of admission arrangements for schools. Please read the Arrangements for each school. The Admission Arrangements can be found in the:

Primary Schools

Most primary schools in the City have a defined catchment area. Except for the Faith Schools.

Secondary schools

Belfairs Academy, Chase High School, The Eastwood Academy, Southchurch High School, Cecil Jones Academy and Shoeburyness High School all have defined catchment areas for mainstream admissions.

Not included within the directory

Shoeburyness High School also have selective admissions for which the priority area is mainly Southend (see map in booklet or school website).

Southend High School for Boys, Southend High School for Girls, Westcliff High School for Boys and Westcliff High School for Girls have two priority areas. In priority for children who live in the postcodes of SS0-9. And out of priority for all postcodes outside of SS0-9.

St Thomas More High School mainly allocates on faith based and distance criteria. They also have selective admissions for which the priority area is only SS0-9.

St Bernard's High School mainly allocates on faith based and distance criteria. They also have selective admissions for which the priority area is mainly Southend (see map in booklet or school website).

There is no guarantee of a place at any school even if you live in the catchment or priority area. Most schools give a high priority to pupils living in their catchment area.
