ImagiNation - Turning Reading on it's Head

Character on Book

Southend Libraries are calling all young people aged 10 -18 years to take part in ImagiNation, “Turning Reading on its Head”. This Arts and Reading activity runs in all libraries in the

Borough from 14 July – 1 September.

It’s free to join and everyone who takes part will receive a small gift. There is also a chance to win a pair of Beats by Dr Dre Headphones.

Young People just have to read two books and create a piece of art or write a review on an ImagiNation Belly Band. These are wrapped around the books and displayed so that others will be inspired to read them. Artwork can also be uploaded onto the ImagiNation Blog.

There will be a special Digital Arts Workshop held at the Forum on 23 August. Come and try your hand at making an animated film with Signals Digital Arts. There will be two sessions, one for 10 -12 years and another for 13 years upwards. We will be making sets and characters and using animation software and miniature cameras to create a short animated film.

Tickets are free but must be booked online at Eventbrite.

Imagination is supported by Arts Council England and runs in libraries in the East of England.

Southend Libraries are very pleased to be able to offer this free activity to Young People and hope to see as many as possible take part during the summer holidays.
