ImagiNation - Turning Reading on it's Head

Southend Libraries are running a special Reading and Arts activity during the summer holidays for young people.

ImagiNation 2017 “Turning Reading on its Head” is aimed at children and young people aged 10 – 18 years. It encourages them to read and share their thoughts about books in return for a certificate and a prize.

ImagiNation is happening at every library in Southend plus others in the Eastern Region including those in Essex and Thurrock. It’s easy to sign up and young people can read any book of their choice. They will be given a ‘Book Wrap’ on which to create a piece of art, write a poem or write a review that has been inspired by the book. That should then be wrapped around the book and returned to the library where they will receive a certificate and keyring torch.

Young people can also upload a photo or a scan of their work to the ImagiNation website: www.imaginationeast.org.uk and be part of a wider community taking part in ‘Turning Reading on its Head’.
