Naming new streets and numbering of new developments
Developers should contact the Council once work has commenced on site, enclosing the site layout plan, along with any suggestions for new street names. These names should be linked to local history and/or are relevant to the pattern of existing street names.
Both the Council and Royal Mail comment upon the proposed new street names.
Once an agreement is reached between the Developer, the Council and Royal Mail, the naming and numbering scheme is then confirmed to all parties by the Council and a numbering certificate is provided to the owner of the premises.
The naming and numbering scheme is also confirmed to other interested organisations including emergency services, utility companies, land registry and other departments within the Council.
