Grass cutting / strimming incidents

Grass Cutting

Time table for grass cutting on verges, parks and gardens/cliffs 2018

Due to changing weather patterns in recent years the grass cutting window has extended beyond what was previously normal (late March to October). When conditions allow or grass growth dictates, the grass teams are usually starting their first cut at the beginning of March however for the last 3 seasons we have been still cutting certain areas in the town until November. This season, the snow and torrential rain made cutting conditions impossible in the early weeks. This was followed by a spike of continued hot weather resulting in grass growth at a considerable rate. The above conditions meant that rather than starting full cutting rounds from 5th March, we didn’t start in earnest until 5th April.

We aim for the grass cutting teams including tractors cutting open spaces to be completed every 13 working days. This is subject to change due to weather conditions and other external factors.
