The Microchipping of Dogs and Cats (England) Regulation 2023 brought into force compulsory microchipping of all dogs and cats. This means that all dogs over the age of 8 weeks and all cats over 20 weeks must be microchipped and your details as the keeper registered with an authorised database company.
It will be a prosecutable offence under this regulation not to have your dog microchipped and not to have your contact details up to date.
For further information on getting your dog microchipped and any questions on the legislation please contact the Animal Warden on 01702 215005.
Please note: even if your dog has been microchipped the law states that your dog must still wear a collar and identity tag in a public place. The tag should show your name and address.
