The council is delighted to announce that international concert pianist Evgeny Soifertis is returning to our city and will perform at the Civic Centre on Friday 22 March at 8pm.

Evgeny Soifertis previously performed in Southend over five years ago to much critical and audience acclaim. From an early age Soifertis, who was born in Kiev, demonstrated exceptional talents winning first prize in the Beethoven Competition when he was just thirteen.

For over 30 years, he has been delighting audiences with his performances across Europe and the UK. Some of his most memorable performances include playing at the Flanders Festive in Italy, in the world-famous Concertgebouw in the Netherlands and Wigmore Hall in Wigan. He also regularly performs with leading international orchestras such as BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Dutch Radio Symphony Orchestra and has also performed as part of the BBC's Music Live Festival.

Councillor David Garston, deputy cabinet member for arts, culture, heritage, and leisure, said: “We are delighted that Evgeny Soifertis is returning to our city and following the success of his performance over five years ago this performance is not to be missed.

“Our concerts make sure both residents and visitors have an opportunity to experience world-renowned music without having to travel to the big concert halls, cathedrals and abbeys of London and other major cities.

“I would encourage everyone to book early for this performance at the Civic Centre so as not to miss experiencing this internationally acclaimed world-class pianist. The Civic Centre has the benefit of free parking after 6pm and is also easily accessible as it's located on a major bus route and close to both Southend Victoria and Southend Central train stations.”

The concert takes place in the Civic Centre, Victoria Avenue, Southend-on-Sea, starting at 8pm. Tickets cost £10 and can be purchased online or by phone on 01702 215011, Monday to Friday, during normal office hours. Any remaining tickets will be on sale at the concert.
