Easter Bank Holiday weekend – bin collection changes

Southend Council has confirmed temporary changes to waste collections over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

A person holds a smartphone and points the camera at a pile of crumpled purple chocolate wrappers on table. The phone screen shows the same pile in focus. In the background, a small green recycling bin with a white recycling symbol is visible.

Residents with Friday collections will see a revised schedule:

  • no collections will take place on Good Friday (3 April).
  • Friday collections will move to Saturday 4 April.
  • all other collection days remain unchanged.

Recycling Centres

The Stock Road and Leigh Marshes Household Waste Recycling Centres will be open as usual throughout the Easter weekend. Residents can check how busy the sites are via the waste app or the HWRC CCTV webpage. Early mornings and late afternoons are typically quieter.

Support for Residents

The resident recycling and waste bin app also provides recycling guidance and includes a new camera‑based AI tool to help residents identify the correct bin for different items.

Normal collection schedules will resume the week after Easter.
