About work experience

Unfortunately we are unable to provide work experience placements until further notice.

Please continue to check this page for any changes.

The work experience programme gives young people from 14 to 18 years old a chance to familiarise themselves with the world of work.

It is organised in conjunction with local schools and colleges. It is a great way to help young people develop their skills and improve their job prospects.

During a placement, they will be able to find out what skills employers look for when theyre hiring someone to fill a job vacancy.

The length of the Work Experience is usually two weeks, but it can be longer or shorter if the hiring manger is able to assist. All placements are unpaid

If you are seeking a work experience placement, please contact resourcing@southend.gov.uk.

Attach your CV and indicate which departments/area of work you are interested in, along with your start and end dates for the placement.
