Getting around Queensway during the works
We are working together with Taylor Woodrow to keep everyone safe and informed while works are underway at Queensway. On this page you will find clear guidance on how to walk, drive, and use public transport safely around the area during the works.
Bus route changes around Queensway
Some bus services will be diverted while works take place in the Queensway area. Services will continue to run, but routes will change temporarily.
Stephenson's buses
Route 14
Via Chancellor Road, Southchurch Avenue, then right onto Southchurch Road, before continuing on its normal route.
Route 24
Via Chancellor Road, then rejoining its normal route at Woodgrange Drive.
Route 60
Via Chancellor Road, Southchurch Road, Bournemouth Park Road, left onto Boscombe Road, then right onto Sutton Road before continuing as normal.
Routes 61 and 62
Via Chancellor Road and Southchurch Avenue, then rejoining the normal route at Bournemouth Park Road.
Towards the Travel Centre
All the Stephenson's services will follow the diversion in reverse. Buses will use Queensway, then turn left onto Southchurch Road and left again onto Chichester Road.
Arriva buses
Route 2
Via Chancellor Road and Southchurch Avenue, then back onto Southchurch Road in both directions.
Route 29
Via Chancellor Road and Southchurch Avenue, then back onto Southchurch Road in both directions.
Walking around Queensway
We have made some changes to pedestrian routes around the area while improvement works take place:
- the Queensway underpass is currently closed
- the pedestrian subways at the main roundabout are permanently closed
- pedestrian diversions are clearly signposted to guide you safely around the work areas.
- temporary pedestrian crossings are in place at key locations, including Short Street, to ensure safe crossing points
- all routes are designed to keep pedestrians away from construction zones while maintaining convenient access to nearby streets
- the pedestrian subway at Whitegate Road is open for use

Driving around Queensway
Traffic management is in place at the following junctions:
- Queensway and Southchurch Road
- Chichester Road and Short Street (access to Short Street is maintained)
- Southchurch Road and Sutton Road
Roundabout and junction improvement works are ongoing, including upgrades to kerbs, drainage, footways, and surfaces.
Traffic diversions are clearly signed to guide vehicles safely around the work areas.
