Christmas opening times for our services
There are changes to some of our services and opening hours over the festive period. Information will be added to this page as they are confirmed.
Recycling and Waste collections
There will be some changes to collections due to the Christmas and New Year bank holidays, please see our revised collection days page for these changes.
Registration Services
Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day, 27 December and New Years Day.
Southend Crematorium and Sutton Road Cemetery
Open at 7.30 and close at 17.00 all over the festive period.

- Tuesday 23 December - usual opening hours
- Wednesday 24 Dec (Christmas Eve) - all libraries close at 2pm
- Thursday 25 December (Christmas Day) - all libraries closed
- Friday 26 December (Boxing Day) - all libraries closed
- Saturday 27 December - all libraries closed
- Sunday 28 December – all libraries closed
- Monday 29 December- usual opening hours
- Tuesday 30 December - usual opening hours
- Wednesday 31 December (New Year's Eve) - all libraries close at 5pm
- Thursday 1 January ( New Year's Day) - all libraries closed
- Friday 2 January - usual opening hours

Household Waste Recycling Centres (the tip)
Usual opening hours are: Monday to Friday 9.00am to 4.00pm, and Saturday and Sunday 8.00am to 4.00pm.
Stock Road
Closed on Thursday 25 December, Friday 26 December, Thursday 1 January.
Otherwise open as usual.
Leigh Marshes
Closed on Thursday 25 December, Friday 26 December, Thursday 1 January.
Otherwise open as usual with the additional days of Wednesday 24 December and Wednesday 31 December.
