Purpose of Community Protection Notices (CPN)
CPNs were introduced by the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. They are used to deal with a wide range of on-going problems of anti-social behaviours and nuisances which have a negative effect on a community's quality of life.
A CPN is designed to:
- stop repeated anti-social behaviour from happening
- make sure it does not happen again
A CPN can be issued to:
- a person (aged 16 or older)
- a business
- an organisation
A CPN is designed to stop behaviour that is causing a problem. It might also need something be done to fix the problem.
It is a criminal offence to break the rules of a CPN.
