Appealing a Community Protection Notice (CPN)
A CPN can be appealed by following the steps found on the notice. The appeal will be heard in a Magistrates' Court.
You can appeal if:
- the problem in the CPN did not take place
- it didn't have a harmful effect the community
- it didn't keep happening
- it wasn't unreasonable
- the problem couldn't be controlled or stopped
- the CPN requirements are unreasonable
- there's a mistake or problem with the CPN
- the CPN was issued to the wrong person
You must make an appeal within 21 days of receiving a CPN.
If the CPN requires something must be done, it can wait until the outcome of the appeal. If the CPN requires something to stop, it must be stopped right away.
