How to apply
You must apply for travel assistance.
If you move house or change school, you must tell us and may need to reapply.
Parents qualifying due to low income must reapply each year.
Post-16 students must apply, even if staying at the same school.
Please apply as early as possible, ideally by 31 May. This helps to make sure that arrangements are assessed for the start of the school year in September.
You must provide all requested evidence. Awards cannot be backdated.
For most applications

After applying
We process applications as quickly as possible.
Awards are made from the date we receive the complete form and evidence.
Assistance is awarded for a set period or until reviewed. You need to reapply when an award ends.
We can review travel arrangements at any time and may offer a different, suitable, cost-effective option. If you refuse the new offer, assistance may be withdrawn.
We may check eligibility during the year.
Assistance awarded in error may be withdrawn, usually with notice.
Assistance awarded due to fraud will be withdrawn immediately. We may take legal action to recover costs.
