Your recycling and non-recycling should be accessible and visible on the inside edge of your property by 7am on your scheduled collection day.
If you are unable to, we may be able to help you put out your recycling and non-recycling waste.
The best way to find out which day your recycling and waste is collected is through the app. Please note that if your home is currently under review, information may not be accurate.
If you cannot access the app, you can contact our customer services team on 01702 215006.
We are also looking to build a new MySouthend form that will allow you to lookup this information quickly through our website. This will be available in the coming months.
When can I report a missed collection?
Before you report a missed collection, please check your collection calendar to make sure you were due a collection.
You must report a missed collection within 2 working days of your scheduled collection day.
If we receive a valid missed collection report prior to 12pm (noon), we will return in the afternoon of the same day to complete your collection.
If your report is received after 12pm (noon) we will return and collect it the next collection day before 12pm (noon).
Report a missed collection using our online form. You do not need to register for MySouthend to report the missed collection (click on continue without registering), but by registering, you can manage and keep track of your reports and requests online. You will have control over obtaining the information you need, without having to call or visit us.
If you are registered for MySouthend, you will receive updates on the status of your request.
Before reporting a missed collection, please:
- make sure your recycling and non-recycling waste was out for collection by 7am on your collection day
- make sure your recycling and non-recycling waste was put out on the correct day (which can be found on the app)
- make sure you put the right items in the right bin or sack (check what goes into each container)
- make sure you are reporting this to us within two working days of your scheduled collection day
- check to see if your container has been tagged with a reason for non-collection
Delays can happen because of roadworks, lorry breakdowns, crew or route changes, or other unexpected events. If our collection vehicles are still on the way you will be unable to raise a missed collection report. Register for the resident app for up-to-date information about your collection.
How do the recycling and waste collections work?
Order of collection
Every week, a recycling lorry will collect:
- one week: your pink-lid bin (plastic, glass, cans) and blue food waste bin
- next week: your blue-lid bin (paper and card) and blue food waste bin
The back of the lorry is divided into two parts so that the two types of recyclable material can be collected at the same time but remain apart.
- every two weeks, a different lorry will collect your black bin for non-recyclable waste.
If you're signed up to the garden waste service, a third lorry will collect your green bin as scheduled.
If you have a sack collection, your sacks will be collected weekly. If this collection frequency changes, residents affected will be advised in advance.
These vehicles may start collections in different locations and, as such, your recycling and waste may be collected at different times.
