How to put your recycling and non-recyclable waste out correctly

What is the enforcement process?

What is the enforcement process?

Sometimes we must give clear instructions to residents that keep putting their recycling and non-recyclable waste out wrongly. This is a formal Warning Notice.

If the Warning Notice is ignored there is an enforcement process. This can result in a Fixed Penalty Notice of £80 being given for each offence.

How to report sacks that are put out wrongly

If you are aware of someone that keeps putting their recycling or non recyclable waste wrongly you can report it as fly-tipping.

Will every report lead to enforcement action?

No, we usually search for evidence of who is at fault.

Where we can find no evidence, we may ask if you are willing to give us a Witness Statement. If you cannot, it may not be possible to start enforcement action.

If we cannot give a warning notice, we will always contact the person in question. We will tell them of how to put their recycling and non-recyclable waste out correctly.
