  • learn the skills you need to live on your ow

We have a skills for living booklet that you can work through with your personal advisor, foster carer, key worker or family.

Moving home

When it is time to move, we will help you.

This includes:

  • planning your moving day
  • helping you pack your belongings
  • making sure you have suitable luggage
  • giving you emotional and practical support

Our housing options

We have a housing options guide to help you understand your options. Your personal advisor will go through this with you from the age of 16. If you would like a copy, email LeavingCareTeam@southend.gov.uk.

If you have no recourse to public funds

If you came to the UK to seek asylum, we will help you understand your rights.

If you are waiting for a Home Office decision, or appealing a decision, we will continue to help you with safe accommodation until you are 25.

If you are worried about becoming homeless

If you are at risk of losing your home, we will help you.

We will:

  • work with Southend Housing Solutions
  • help you find emergency accommodation if needed
  • support you to stay safe

Young people aged 16 to 17 and care leavers aged 18 to 21 who are at risk of homelessness are given extra priority for support.
