Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC)

Check the best time to visit the sites by viewing the webcam on Veolia's website (please allow time for the page to load).

Both sites also have CCTV cameras and ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) in order to monitor the frequency of visits by all vehicles, to help identify unauthorised business waste and for the prevention of crime.

A new re-use scheme will be underway soon, which will include a shop on the Stock Road site to sell items back to the community and a reuse collection service from Leigh Marshes.

Further information about the HWRCs can also be found on Veolia’s dedicated web site at: http://www.veolia.co.uk/southend/hwrcs

Under no circumstances should asbestos be disposed of at these sites, or via any of the kerbside collection services. Asbestos must be disposed of by a specialist contractor as this is a hazardous waste requiring specialist collection and disposal.

Gas cylinders and tyres cannot be accepted at either HWRC.

For information about what can and can’t be accepted at the HWRCs please see the pages below.
